Peer Support is a program which is during school time. There are leaders and co-leaders. The Leaders are in Year Six and the Co-leaders are in Year Five. Peer Support helps to make children become friends by doing things together and encourage contact between children of all grades. Peer Support started in 1992 at our school. The groups usually consist of eight kids and there are kids from all classes in each group.

Peer Support has been a great success. We do Peer Support in Term 2. When we do Peer Support we also get to know each other and we play lots of games.

Leaders and Co-leaders develop skills of leadership, organisation, co-operation and builds their self-esteem. This will help them be ready for high school. I really like this way of building friendship and co-operation.

Part of the team building involved rock climbing in pairs.
Each child relied upon the other.
