Jason and the Golden Fleece

Jason and the Golden Fleece

During Reading Groups the children read of the adventures of Jason of  from ancient Greece. Jason had taken up the challenge by Pelias to capture the Golden Fleece and return back to his kingdom Iolcos.

Children have continued their own adventure story (narrative) from when Jason captured the Golden Fleece on the Island of Colchis, in the land of the world's end.

Jason's Return
By Hoa

When Jason arrived at Iolcos he showed the Golden Fleece to Pelias.  Pelias thought no one would able to get the Golden Fleece.  King Pelias spoke, "You shall never take the throne of Iolcos, unless you and I have a challenge," he paused, "do you take this challenge?"

"I do take the challenge," accepted Jason.

"The challenge starts tomorrow at dawn," Pelias continued, "I advise you to prepare now."

On the night before the challenge Medea the one who helped Jason capture the Golden Fleece, had more ointment prepared for the challenge next day.

It was morning, and Jason had woken up early and gathered his swords and shield. Medea had just woken up too and said, "Here is some more ointment that I prepared last night ready for dawn." Jason took the ointment and slipped the small bottle in his small pocket.

Just before the challenge Jason rubbed the ointment on himself. It was time to fight Pelias. Medea wished him good luck.

Jason and Pelias fought and fought for hours. They both used swords and a shield. Pelias finally gave up.

"You take my throne, I can't fight on," Pelias said with an exhausting huff.

"You must keep away from the land of Iolcos." then Jason remembered, "and Medea
shall be my queen."

Jason and Medea had a happy life together and ruled Iolcos together.

Jason's Adventure After Escaping Colchis
By Giau

Jason has now escaped the land of Colchis. Just as he thought he was home without a doubt Jason suddenly felt a trembling and everything started to shake.

Jason looked up and as he was looking up he saw a pair of eyes staring back at him. They were Ares eyes. A lightning bolt came and hit the middle of his boat.

As soon as that happened Orpheus yelled we're all going to die. Jason knew if he didn't do something quickly he would die for sure for there was a big hole in the boat.

So Jason said "Hera please help me." Just then the hole just disappeared. Jason and his friends kept on sailing. For a while it seemed like it was smooth sailing home. But about half an hour after he thought that, everything started to boil, a huge sea monster appeared.

The huge monster grabbed and swallowed Medea, when Jason saw that he grabbed
his crossbow and jumped into the monsters mouth. After a while he got to the stomach and he almost fell into the digestive system of the monster.

He saw Medea and grabbed her hand. After he grabbed her hand he pulled her up to a place in the monster's stomach. After that he found the monster's heart and he thought he had better kill monster. Then he got his crossbow and shot the monster's heart. After he shot the heart he heard a noise and saw a lot of water coming in. He waited a while and started to swim out.

When he finally surfaced with Medea his friends came and picked him up. They started sailing again.

That was Jason's adventure after escaping Colchis. The question still is did Jason ever get home?

Jason's Way Home

On Jason's way home his boat started to shake and he started to panic. He didn't know what it was, it was strange the water was really still.

Jason put his oar into the water, Suddenly he felt something, and then this  huge sea monster came up out of the water trying to shake the boat making Jason and his crew start to panic and it jumped up at Medea and nearly attacked her.  While the sea monster was out of the water Jason got his bow and arrow and shot the sea monster in the head and it later died from loss of blood.

Jason and his warriors continued their journey home. It was getting onto night time, and Jason had to beach his boat at night.

The next morning Jason woke up and he realised was not far from home, so they continued their journey, then they came to the city of Iolcos.

They were really lucky, because soon as Jason and his crew members arrived at there home town of Iolcos a wicked storm hit  with really heavy rain and lot's of lightning and thunder. Jason and his crew members felt so lucky that they were not out on the boat when the fierce storm had hit.

Jason took the golden fleece to Pelius and became King and married her.

Jason Returns to Danger
(The Journey Home)
By Matt

Jason was returning to Iolcos with the Golden Fleece to reclaim his throne from his evil uncle. Jason had to fight a God, Aires the God of war and hatred before he got anywhere near Iolcos and his throne with Medea.

Medea gave Jason special armour and weapons with potion on it that could kill any God.  Jason shot an arrow at Aires but missed then Jason threw a spear and it hit Aires in the head and Aires fell down and died.

Jason was returning to his boat and but Medea had gone. Jason was furious he was running up and down the bank searching for his boat he had finally found it up stream jammed between rocks and the boat was badly damaged with holes.

They cut down a tree to mend the holes in the boat.

It took a short while before they had finished then they sailed back to Iolcos to reclaim the throne but found themselves under attack.  It was devastating the amount of people and animals that were already dead by the end of the war Jason had reclaimed his throne after chopping off his evil uncles head off.

There were 357 people dead.  There was a funeral shortly after the massacre of the 357 lives.

How Jason got back
By Luke

After Jason got the golden fleece, he sailed back to Iolcos to reclaim the throne, but when he got back to his city he was astonished that his city had been invaded by the Persian Army and and was now ruled by Persia.

He went into the city and found all the men that were alive and trained them to be warriors near the lake.

After two months of training they were ready. The next no moon they attacked the city and it took 5 whole moons till they finally overtook the city and Jason with the golden fleece took over the throne.

What happened to the other Persians they captured, well they were sold into slavery. But lots of his army died in the battle.

Jason and the One eyed Titan.
By Helen.

On their way home, Jason, Medea, Jason's bride to be and the heroes landed on a deserted island one night. When Jason woke up at midnight he sensed something was wrong so he struck a flintstone and lit a lamp. Jason was shocked to see that all the heroes and Medea had disappeared! Luckily he still had some of Medea's ointment and he had been sleeping behind a rock.

The next morning he searched for whoever or whatever took the heroes and Medea. He searched the island's coastline but found no trace of them.

After midday he found a cave with a trail of blood leading into it. "Medea or one of the heroes must have either wounded." thought Jason.

Jason crept in cautiously and paused at every corner. This went on for hours, but after about three hours Jason very nearly walked into the One eyed Titan! The Titan had sacks as big as Jason tied up in the corner and they were wriggling! "Do those sacks contain Medea and the Heroes?" Jason wondered.

Jason had no more time to think about that because the Titan woke up! Jason thought more quickly than I can tell you and decided to aim for it's eye and blind it then to kill it. So he drove his sword into the Titans eye and blinded it, then he drove his spear (for his sword had got stuck in the Titan's eye) into the Titan's heart.

He then asked the sacks who was in them and low and behold it was the Heroes and Medea. There was much merry-making in the camp that night and they named the island The One Eye Of The Sea, for it was the only island for miles.

They left The One Eye Of The Sea early in the morning, thus ended another adventure of Jason.

So Jason and his companions removed the curse from Iolcos and returned with Medea to the throne of his father.

On Jason's return he ran into Hera, the wife of Zeus, King of Gods, and she asked, "Did you succeed?"

Jason replied, "Yes I did, I am now on my way to claim the throne with the love of my life, Medea,"

Jason set off again and when he arrived in Iolcos Jason announced, "I am here again to claim my throne, I also have the Golden Fleece with me."

The King wasn't satisfied and wanted to do a battle to the death with him. Medea wasn't sure about it and warned Jason that the King was very good with his sword.

So the next day Jason and his uncle, the King got ready for their battle.   When they started Jason's companions got involved in a fight with the King's Guards, a lot of people were killed, there were swords through their stomachs and blood everywhere. At the end there were only two still standing, Jason and the King.

They fought until night and after a while the King was down on his back. Jason said, "I will not harm you as we are family but you have to give me the throne,"

The King agreed and from that day Jason and Medea were happily married and together ruled Iolcos.

Jason's Return
By Natasha

Jason and his lover, Medea, rushed to their ships quickly with their Golden Fleece, which was for his Uncle, Pelias King of Iolcos.

When they got to where they had left the boat it was gone. Jason was filled with anger. He was just as angry as the warriors. They all searched for the boat but their was no sign of the boat anywhere. Medea thought for awhile and said "I think I know where it is. My father probably was very angry that you had defeated him and took it".

They thought but how could he have done it. Then the warriors said that Medea may be right. They went back.

The huge metal gates for entry to the palace were locked. You had to type in a five digit number for it to open. Medea told them that she knew what the five digit number is. It is 23811. They had to wait ten seconds before it opened and it did.

When it opened, King Aeetes' warriors came towards them attacking. Jason gave a sign to his warriors to attack. He also told Medea to run and hide before she gets hurt. She ran and hid behind some bushes while Jason and his warriors were attacking her once warriors.

She was so afraid that she came out of the bushes and shouted at the top of her voice "STOP!" They all stopped and turned around to Medea. She had shouted so loud that her father, King Aeetes and her brother and sister in the palace had heard her so they came out.

She said "How dare you act like this when my love has come back with his warriors. They have come back to get their boat and don't try to lie to us that you don't have it. I know that you took it, how could you be so selfish father?"

Her father began saying "But he made you fall in love with you my princess so you could go back with him and be his princess, he does not love my princess."

Medea was full of rage she had nothing else to say but "You are wrong, you have never been so wrong in your life I made him fall in love with me so I could be his Princess to go back with him to his palace," she said crying.

Jason rushed up to her to hold her because she was crying. King Aeetes turned around to Jason and said "You have got me this time but you will be sorry. You can have your stupid boat."

Then he said to Medea, "I'm sorry that I have caused all this trouble upon you, you can take whatever you want I have been such a fool I'm so sorry my princess."

All Jason's warriors whispered "So you should be."

She turned around to her father and said "Well, you have gone too far this time, I'm old enough to do what I want!"

Then she grabbed Jason's hand and left with Jason's warriors behind them carrying their boat. When they got to the sea they tried to make it sail but it wouldn't so they had to row.

Every night they would stop at a little island somewhere to eat and rest.

Until the fifth day it rained, it stormed. They were soaked. They were so soaked that they could hardly see or hear anything. Then one of Jason's warriors was struck by lightning. Medea was so lucky she was right next to him. They didn't know what to do so they threw him into sea.

Medea got up and kissed Jason and said "I have have caused you so much trouble I will never forgive myself for what I did to you my love. Jason my hero, it is time to say good bye."

Jason had no idea what she was going on about. Medea got the knife and stabbed herself.

Jason and his warriors turned around to see what was going on. There she was the hero's lover, lying dead on the boat. Jason got the sword and was about to stab himself.

Hercules ran up to him and took the sword from him and said "you don't want to do this, your uncle will think you did not survive the trip. You have to understand that you are a hero, a great hero. You are the only friend that I have that is a hero and one I will never forget it if there is anything wrong. You know that all of us warriors are here for we are your warriors we are in your hands, our good friend"

Jason understood that he was a hero but he made his lover kill herself.

They could see home they were at home when they got off the boat everyone was crowded around them.

He went to the his father's once palace. He went to the room where his uncle was in. He gave him the Golden Fleece and when he gave him the Golden Fleece his guards got a hold of him and killed him.

That was that.
