Children from Brooky have been emailing with Mr Barger's classes for a couple of years. They are up high in the mountains in North Carolina. Sometimes when the snow is really bad their school is cancelled. They have a computer with internet access on the classroom.
Mr Barger wrote about his school :
Old Fort School is located in North Carolina. We are surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the elevation of the city is 2,500 feet. One of Asheville's main industries is tourism. People come to visit the Biltmore House and many festivals throughout the year. Our nickname is "Land of the Sky".
We have classes from kindergarten through sixth grade. Our school year starts in early August and ends in late May. Each grade level has three teachers.
