One group is
testing salinity.
By Bridget
On 22nd of October our class 6T went to Brookvale Creek to do
Streamwatch. We tested water. There are tests for salinity,
temperature, turbidity and acidity. We also did the bug test. We also
tested the water near Warringah Mall. Then we walked back to school.
The water was good.
One group's
testing temperature.

On Wednesday 22nd October, our class went to Brookvale Creek to do
Streamwatch. When we do Streamwatch, we test the water of Brookvale
Creek all the way through to Pittwater Road, and we do a water bug
survey too.
We do four tests on the water: Salinity, Ph, Turbidity and Temperature.
Alison and David (our Streamwatch instructors) helped us record and do
each test. The results were that Brookvale Creek at Clearview Place
have healthier water than Pittwater Road, because of the amount of
pollution that contaminates the water at Pittwater Road.
Streamwatch is always good and it's cool to get away from school for a
day too!

On the 22nd of October Year 6 went to Streamwatch at Brookvale Creek.
First we met Alison and David at the creek then split into two groups.
One group went and did the Waterbug Survey and the other went to do the
Streamwatch Test. There are four tests; they are Salinity, PH,
Temperature and Turbidity. The results are as shown:
Clearview Place
PH - 7
Salinity - 210
Turbidity - <10 (7)
Temperature - 15 degrees Celsius
After that we walked to Brookvale Creek near The Golf Course. We then
chose another group and did the same test but with different results
which are:
Pittwater Rd
PH - 6
Salinity - 270
Turbidity - <10
Temperature - 20
After the tests we walked back to school and had lunch.
