The principal talking about leaving Primary School.

By Ano

On Thursday December 4th, Year 6 all went to their High School Orientation Day. Examples of High Schools they went to were Makellar Girls, Balgowlah Boys, Narabeen Sports, Forest, Manly and Cromer.

I went to Cromer Cromer High School and it was really exciting and fun and my group number was 8.

Well when I got introduced to my group the two School Captains showed us around the school and then we got our Christmas cards, well heaps of my friends were there.

I think it was a great experience to make a lot of friends and get know more about high school next year.

On Thursday the 4th of December 2003 most of the Year 6 had their Hight School Orientation Day. I had my orientation day at Mackellar Girls High School. Other kids had their's at Manly High, Mackellar, Cromer and  Narrabeen Sports.

I listened to the teacher's and the Principal while my dad bought my uniform and my books for next year. The Year 10 Peer Support Leaders showed us around the classrooms and the play area. They also showed us how to use the Mackellar timetable.

At the end we did a couple of small chats and we went back to the hall where we had our parents waiting and went back to school.

When I get to high school I would like to hope that I won't get lost.

On the 4th of December 2003, Year 6 went to their High School Orientation Day. Most of the girls went to the Mackellar Orientation.

When I arrived at Mackellar Girls High School, everyone one settled in the hall and they had an Assembly to welcome all the Year 6 girls. We met the Visual Arts teacher, the Principal Mrs. Richards, Deputy Principal Mrs. White, the two Year 7 advisers and some other teachers and staff of the
P & C.

During the Assembly we watched a short Powerpoint Pressentation on the Year 10 Peer Support Camp. We met some of the Peer Support leaders. After the presentation the Peer Support leaders took us on a tour of the school and we had some orange juice and biscuits for morning tea.

Each girl in the group got a map and an example of a timetable which we studied. The timetables were very different to the ones we have in Primary school. We then went on the tour. We got to see most of the Blocks in the school. There was A, B, C (which is the canteen), D and E blocks.

While we were having the tour, our parents had a chance to buy our Year 7 book pack, uniforms, and pay for the school fees. In the book pack we got a lot of books, a set square, protractor, compass, a ruler, display folders and a slip folder. That all cost $55. Next year they will give us our Visual Arts pack.

After the Tour finished everyone went home or to their Primary School. I had a great day!

On the 4th of December Year 6 from all around had a High School Orientation Day. I'm going to Mackellar Girls High so then I go to Makellar for orientaton day. First we got to buy our Year 7 packs and our uniforms for next year.

After about 10 minutes we had to all get together in the hall and there were 2 year 7 girls who shared us their feelings and their thoughts about their first day at high school. But before the girls talked the captain of Makellar gave a short speech to us about her time in Makellar.

We met the Visual Arts teacher and the Principal Mrs Richards, Deputy Principal Mrs White and the two Year 7 advisers. After we watched a short video on Makellar and then we split up into six groups and went to all our Peer Support leaders. My leader was Salome, she was cool. When we all got together we introduced ourselves to each other and then we went for a tour.

We went to A block first and then the toilets, B block, C block, D block and then E Block we even got to met teachers and the staff but all I remember is Mr Fisher.

After all that walk the Year 7 girls prepared us lunch and that was good. I had a great time and I'm sure that everyone did too!

I met a lot of people and most of the staff. *IT WAS A GOOD DAY*
