Year 6 on the Jey Cat.
By Stephen
On the 10th of December, 6T and Mrs.
McGrath's reading class went to the city.
First we caught the bus to Manly
Wharf where we split into three groups then we went to catch the ferry
but it was delayed so we caught the Jet Cat. We arrived at Circular
Quay
in no time.
Then we walked to train which we
caught to Central Station. Then we went to a park to have Recess. After
we had Recess we walked back to Central Station and on our way there we
saw the clock that was used for every train. When we got the station we
saw the Indian Pacific which goes all the way to Perth.
Then we boarded our train which we
caught to the Harbour Bridge but first we went underneath it to have
lunch. While we having lunch Mr Taylor showed us where John Howard
lived when he was in Sydney.
We put on sunscreen and headed to
the Harbour Bridge. We walked up some stairs then started walking
across. It was very hot and tiring walking across but it had a very
good view and I would recommend it to anyone.
After walking across we walked back
to Circular Quay and caught the ferry back to Manly Wharf (the ferry
took much longer). When we got of the ferry we walked to a bus stop and
caught a bus to Warringah Mall and then walked back to school.
It was an interesting excursion,
many of the kids had never been on a ferry or train before and we
learnt lots about the history of Sydney.

On the 10th of December 2003 Year
Six, Mrs Milner, Mr Taylor and Mrs McGrath and her class went on an
excursion to the city.
First we got on a bus in
Brookvale
that took us just across the road from where we catch the ferry to
Sydney. Our ferry was delayed so we got to go on a Jet Cat.
The Jet Cat was fast so when we went
over a wave it flew in the air and when it hit the water it made a big
splash.
Then walked to the railway station
and caught a train to Central Railway Station. We saw a lot of sights
on the way like trams, old buildings and some trains then after that we
got on a train it was bumpy, loud and small. We sat in the park and had
recess.
Then we got on another train which
was smooth quiet and tall the complete opposite to the other one. The
train took us underground then across sydney Harbour Bridge. We had
lunch under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and heard all the vehicles go
over the bridge.
We walked over the Sydney Harbour
Bridge and saw John Howard's house, lots of boats and some more things.
It was interesting tiring and I would recommend it to other people to
try in there spare time
We walked over to the ferry caught
that back to Manly. It was slow and smooth. Then for the final time we
got on a bus to the Mall then walked back to school.

On Wednesday, Year 6 went to the
city.
When everyone arrived at school, Mr
Taylor split us into two groups. Then we walked to the bus stop at
Brookvale shops to wait for the bus to go to Manly Wharf. The buses we
went on were public buses. If you don't know what a public bus is, it
is a bus that takes other people to where they want to go not a special
excursion bus.
When we got to the bus stops we went
onto the bus and put our passes in so we could get into the bus. The
next minute, we were in the bus waiting to get to our stop at Manly
wharf. Some of us had to stand up because it was a full bus, and all
the seats were taken.
Soon we got to Manly Wharf and had
to go into our groups. When
we got there, we were also 15
minutes early.
So Mr Taylor talked to us about the
First Fleet who arrived in Australia in 1788. The leader of Governor's
name was Captain Arthur Philip. Captain Arthur Philip's men arrived
on a boat at Manly while the Aboriginals were still around. His men
went and kidnapped an Aboriginal named Arrabanoo and took him to
Circular Quay which is near the Opera House. They wanted him to help
them make friends with the Aboriginal people. It wasn't long until the
Arrabanoo died because of the disease the other men brought.
My best part of the trip was going
on the jet cat ferry trip, because it was fast.
