On Wednesday October 22nd, the
Leolelei Singers went to St Kevins Church Hall to sing for Carers Week.
Carers Week is for the people who look after other people like
handicaps, old people, and other people who can't look after
themselves. When we first got there, we went inside and we had to sit
down and wait until it was time to sing. At 12.00 pm, the lady in
charge of the whole programme told us that we were going to sing.
We first
sang Waterloo, than we sang My Island home, then we sang Haere Ra and
finished off with a Haka. Then at 1.00pm, the Carers Week provided
lunch with us. After that, a group of ladies went on stage and
performed for the old people. They told all of the Leolelei to come and
sing with them. Then at 1.30pm, we left and came back to school. I had
a very good time at Carers week.

On Wednesday October 22nd, the
Leolelei Singers went by mini-bus to St Kevins hall at Dee Why to
celebrate Carers Week. Before we went to Dee Why we had a quick
practise in the Library then off we went to St Kevins hall.
While we were going we were
practising the songs which were, '' We Go Together'', ''Waterloo'',
''Haere Ra'', ''My Island Home" and the "New Zealand Haka" lead by
Gaberiel Paese-Sia
When we got to the hall I didn't
know where to go but I followed the other singers. When we got
inside we saw nobody entertaining so we went inside and stirred things
up!
We started with We go Together the
crowd loved it! Then we sang Waterloo some people joined in, then we
sang My Island Home, then to finish off the boys did the NZ Haka and
the crowd exploded!
The audience requested that the
Tongan‘s entertainment again, they did a Tongan dance and then sang a
farewell song which was Haere Ra so we Joined in.
I had a great time and I learned new
things.
