Everybody listening to Andrew Daddo
By Gabriella
On Monday 28th July Years Five and Six went to Manly Warringah Library
to meet and talk with Andrew Daddo, an author of children's' books.
Year Five got to meet the author first, our class 6T walked around
Manly Beach. Our teacher allowed us to go in the water and play on the
sand barefoot. The water was beautiful - crystal blue, and the sand was
crunchy. We even got to climb around 'Dead Man's Cove'.
Soon it was our turn to meet Andrew Daddo. My first impression of him
was someone who was understanding (of the younger generation
especially, it
turned out) and just a person who liked to have fun. He introduced
himself
and told us that he also worked on TV. I knew that, because I'd seen
him
on The Great Outdoors. He explained how he wrote his stories, and that
it
took him an average of six months to write each one.
Some of Andrew's stories are 'Sprung', 'You're Dropped', 'Creepy Cool'
and lots more.
After Andrew had read some of 'You're Dropped' to us, I liked it
a
lot. I recommend Andrew Daddo's books to any reader who just wants a
laugh
and who is about eleven or twelve.

On the 28th of July, Years 5 and 6 went to go see an author named
Andrew
Daddo at the Manly Library. He told us where he got his inspirations
and
ideas from. One of his ideas came from when he was in a small boat in a
river
with lots of disease in Papua New Guinea.
He read us one of his very funny books. I asked him if he could put me
in his next book, he said what do you like and I said music. He said
okay.
He taught us how to become an author and write better. He taught me
heaps about what a author does and how to become one.
