On Monday the 9th of December 5/6T went to Brookvale Creek for a Bug Survey. First we got our Bug Net, Magnifying glass, Ice-cream container, Information Bug Sheet and a Ice Cube Container to put the bugs in.
So we set off on foot to the creek and it was a fun walk. When we got the stairs we saw two huge lizards right next to us.
We had to walk up lots of rocks and I nearly tripped over in some mud on the slippery rocks. We walked through lots of bushes and it was very annoying.
When we actually got to the waterfall there was lots of rocks and water (of course) and when we scooped out some bugs and we got a lot of them.
After we got the bugs we stuck them into the ice cube containers
and we looked at them with our magnifying glass. We had to wear gloves
because the water might be polluted and then we stuck them back into the
water looked at the information sheet.

On the 9th of December our class went to Brookvale Creek to do a Water Bug Survey. We had to walk to get there.
When we got there we saw two lizards and they were really fast they hid under some rocks and then we had to walk through a bit of bush to get to the top of the waterfall, we saw some really good plants.
When we got up there Mr Taylor told us how polluted the water was so we had to wear gloves.
We got given a Magnifying glass to see the bugs, ice cube holder to put the bugs in, bug net to scoop the bugs and a a ice cream container to put the bugs after you scoop the bugs.
Everyone went in different places to collect the bugs. After that we had to put the bugs in the ice cube holder and magnify the bugs we got heaps of things like a leech, a little spider looking one and a snail.
It was pretty cool. Everyone got something different. Then we decided
to head back to school it was really fun.

On Wednesday the 8th of December 5/6T went to Brookvale Creek. We had to split into pairs and one of us had to bring our bag to put a magnifing glass, a contaner, and ice cube container, a piece of paper with all the different types of Bugs and a net. It was very tiring because we had to walk there. Some of us got scratched from the plants and some of us stepped into mud and slipped and got mud all over their shoes.
When we got there we sat down and Mr Taylor told us where to find the bugs then we got our nets and contaners. We tried to get the bugs in the water with our nets. My group found 4 bugs and we had to seperate them. We put a bug in each of the ice cube contaners and we had to try and match up the bug.
Then we put the bugs back in the water where we found them and then
walked back to school.
