Year 6 Mural

Once every year, Year Six do a Mural so they will be remembered in following year after they have left. This year the sixes are doing a mural near the Kindy garden and we are doing a vegetable and flower garden bed.

Everyone has a job, my job is to do the little flowers, Monica, Joseph and Kent did insects , Alexis did the big plants, Matilda did the big sun flowers with Alexis (Matilda looked the funniest with her baggy old cloths!), Annalisa did the big scare-crow and Jenny did the sun and flowers.

If you would like to see the mural it is next to the Kindy garden. I hope you like it.

Working hard on the mural and having fun.

Each year, the seniors of the school, which are the year sixes, paint a mural for the school as a gift and memory. This year we painted our mural behind the shed which is next to the Kindergarten vegetable garden.

First we needed to plan our idea so when we make a mistake we can rub it out. Everybody had different ideas so we can gather a bit of each and put them together. Mine was a path in the middle ascending up, vegetables on the left with a scarecrow hiding in the back and on the right is the plants and flowers with many types of insects on it.

On the bottom of the drawing is the underground life, where all the ants crawl around as workers with the queen ant laying eggs. On the surface are carrot heads sticking up with the body and the roots underground which the ants can nibble on. Also I included some entertainment in my picture so it was not that boring. I drew ants coming out of the ant hole and the spider hanging from it's spider web and was prepared to attack, it was eating the ants one by one as the ants came out. Freaky...!

We had an hour to design our mural on the paper and hand it in, the Year 5 students also helped us by giving some ideas but they don't get to paint.

Little did I know it was hard work and included lots of patience. We all shared the jobs and we started to paint. My job was the underground - (the ants, tunnels), the girls did the plants and flowers with Jenny doing the sun and vegetables.

Why did we choose to do on vegetables and plants instead of something else? Well, because the Kindergarten's garden was next to the shed so we had to continue them on. The boys did the insects which were cool, they drew bugs and slugs hanging and appearing out of nowhere. A beehive was hanging from a branch and bees swarming around it.

We still have more to do but we must finish it before the end of the year. We are proud of what we had done!

Painting the background.

On every Wednesday this Term Year 6 is painting a mural. Our mural has insects everywhere, a flower garden on the right, vegetable gardens on the left and a ant's nest on the bottom. It is on the back of their shed right next to the Kindy‘s garden. The mural is painted by Year 6 so the school will remember us when we are High School.
